What this page covers

A buying guide is only worth reading if you know how it was put together. This policy explains how Top Discounts picks subjects, gathers information, writes and reviews drafts, and keeps pages current.

How we pick topics and products

  • Reader usefulness: does the guide help someone make a real buying decision about tools, home or outdoor products?
  • Search demand: are readers already looking for this answer?
  • Availability: can a reader actually buy the product right now?

How we research

We work from manufacturer specifications, public product information and aggregated buyer feedback. We read these side by side and note where they agree and where they conflict.

We do not run lab tests, and we do not try products out ourselves. When a page says how a product performs, it is summarizing what manufacturers state and what owners report.

How drafts are written and reviewed

We write drafts with AI writing tools, and that is a regular part of our process. The Top Discounts Editorial Team reviews each piece before it is published. Reviewers check that statements match the sources, that wording is clear and that nothing is promised without support. If a detail cannot be backed up, we leave it out.

Standards for our writing

  • We say what a source says and avoid claims we cannot trace back to one.
  • We describe weaknesses as plainly as strengths.
  • We use short sentences and everyday words, so a first-time buyer can follow along.
  • We do not promise results, durability or safety.

Product listings gather published details in one place. They are summaries of what is on record, and we word them so readers can tell the difference between a summary and a review.

Commissions and independence

Top Discounts earns affiliate commissions through links, as described in the Affiliate Disclosure and on the How We Make Money page. Commissions never decide what we recommend. We can cover a product that has no affiliate link, and we can point out the faults of one that does.

Keeping content current

Products and prices change, so pages age. We look at a page again when we learn that a spec, price or model has changed, when a reader sends a report, or when we review a whole topic. There is no fixed schedule, so check the store page for current details.
