The short version
Top Discounts is free to read. We earn money when readers buy through affiliate links to Amazon. We do not sell products, and we do not take payment in return for good coverage.
How affiliate commissions work
When a reader clicks a link to a product on Amazon and makes a qualifying purchase, Amazon may pay Top Discounts a commission. The price stays the same for the buyer. There is no fee to read the site, no paid membership and no newsletter.
Why we chose this model
A buying guide has to be paid for somehow. We chose affiliate links because they keep every page open to everyone, and because we can be paid without selling anything or asking readers for an account. The site does not show display ads at the moment.
How we keep commissions from steering advice
Earning commissions creates a reason to favor products that pay out, so we have rules to guard against it.
- Commissions are not a factor when we choose topics or products. Our Editorial Policy lists what is.
- We describe a product the same way whether or not it has an affiliate link.
- The Top Discounts Editorial Team reviews drafts to catch claims that sound like promotion.
- We can write about products with no affiliate link at all.
What we do not do
- We do not accept payment for positive coverage.
- We do not sell products or take orders.
- We do not claim sponsorships or partnerships.
Your choice
You do not have to use our links. If you prefer, you can look up a product on your own and buy it anywhere. Prices and stock are set by the store, so the store page is the final source. The Affiliate Disclosure has the full statement, including the Amazon Associates wording.
