It harnesses the power of DOCSIS 3.0 technology to bond up to four downstream channels and four upstream channels providing you advanced multimedia services with data rates of more than 100 Mbps in each direction. That makes gaming, shopping, downloading, working, high quality voice and video conferencing, and peer to peer networking applications far more realistic, faster, and economical than ever before.

        Stay with the SB6120, July 8, 2011

I tried both the SB6120 and the SB6121 and the signal levels and speeds were the same on both.
The SB6121 is a little smaller than the SB6120 but runs much warmer than the SB6120. Seems they tried to cram too much hardware into too small of a space.

My SB6121 didn’t come with the power save button (it’s listed as an optional feature), so about the only difference between the two models is the design. Both the SB6120 and the SB6121 use the same firmware: labeled SB612X.

So unless you want the different looking LED lights and a smaller and warmer box for a higher price, stay with the SB6120.

As far as speeds are concerned: the many channel bonding on these DOCSIS 3.0 modems is nice for sustained constant speeds. It also makes it easier for your ISP to enforce the speed cap if they decide to do so (Comcast in my case does). I was to get 20+ Mbps down and 3+ Mbps up on my old Linksys DOCSIS 2.0 modem, but that was the peak when the move 1st started, then it could taper off.
The DOCSIS 3.0 modem stays right at the 12/2 roof of my speed tier, but at least the speeds stay right up there and don’t drop off after some seconds.

This review is from: Motorola SB6121 SURFboard DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem (Personal Computers)

Out of nowhere, I haved excruciatingly slow internet speed on Comcast. The Comcast tech told that my Motorola SB 4100 was at the “end of life” and that I should upgrade. Cynical, I bought this modem which is a DOCSIS 3.0 (and backwards compatible) modem. It worked. I went from a 2mbps download speed to over 17mbps. What a difference. There was one installation glitch that you have to be aware of. When you hook up the modem (connect the coax cable, connect the ethernet cable, and plug it in, that is it), , then attempt to get online, it’ll direct you to a Comcast self activation screen (no other site is available). After entering my account number and phone number and hitting the “next” button, I got a blank screen, and nothing happens. So I called Comcast and they said that typically happens if you’re doing an upgrade; it usually works only for a new service connection. But, it’s a simple matter to give the tech your MAC address and the serial number. After about five minutes, while he stayed on the line, it came alive, no problem. BUT, here is the thing: the serial number they need is the buyer serial number. This is only found on the bottom of the Motorola box the modem came in. This is different from the “S/N” serial number that’s on the label that’s on the instruction sheet and on the bottom of the modem itself. The buyer S/N has letters in it; the regular S/N has only numbers in it and is too long. My 1st Comcast tech did not know that and it took a day to sort it out. Other than that, it works well with my iMac and Apple Airport Extreme Base wireless router. Enjoy

Bottom line: this is a great modem and it works with Comcast. Comcast just does not have its act together. This modem isn’t only on their accepted list, it has a three star ranking, which, as indicated by Comcast, is “the highest and most thorough level of testing.” When the cable installer got here (I got a new line installed), he said that this modem wasn’t on the Comcast list. Since I still had my DSL line working, I showed him that not only did Comcast support the modem but that Comcast completely tested it. He had to call the “office” to activate the internet service. The “office” did not want to set up internet service for this modem; the “office” stated that this was not an accepted modem. Well, he recalled the “office” and got someone else and they set up the service. I have been happy since. I am supposed to get up to 20 Mbps download and four Mbps upload. My computers are connected wirelessly. Speednet states that I’m to get 20 to 25 Mbps downloads and the upload speed is between three and 3.5 Mbps. I have gotten alike values with speakeasy and other internet speed testing sites. I have many of devices connected: three computers (wireless), two TVs (one wired, one wireless), three different game consoles (connected to the wired TV), two Nintendo 3DS (wireless), one printer (wireless), and an iPod Touch (wireless). At times all of these devices are running simultaneously the computers are streaming You Tube videos, one of the TVs is streaming Netflix, etc. The modem handles all of it effortlessly. I am really happy with this modem.

I’m not an Apple Afficianodo. I do not wear jeans and black turtlenecks in reverence to Steve Jobs. I do not hang out at the Apple Store and covet becoming a “genius”; but, I have to give credit where credit is due. The last not many merchandise Apple has brought out the iPod, iPhone, iPad have been unbelievable and changed the buyer electronics and media / software landscape. Apple TV is located to do the same, but it’ll take many more time to completely realize the possible of this device.

Apple TV effectively lets you to stream whatever is on your iTunes to your TV and home theater system. Moreover, it has fitted support for Netflix, You Tube and some other internet established media content providers. The picture quality and performance for these services are worth the price of admission. There’s important possible to advance the platform just give it many time.

System Overview: My Apple TV is plugged into a 60 inch Samsung 1080p LED HDTV via HDMI (video) and a Yamaha Home Theater Receiver via Toslink optical cable (audio). I have AT&T Uverse with their 802.11g Residential Gateway (combination of DSL modem and wireless router) with their Elite DSL service (6 MB per second). ITunes runs on a Dell Desktop with 4GB of memory, Intel Core two Duo processor and 500 GB Hard Drive operating on Windows Vista (64 bit) and secured with Norton 360 (firewall, antivirus, etc.). The network handles the Desktop, two iPhones, a Blackberry, an iPad, the Apple TV, four Laptops, a wireless Printer and a networked wired printer. The Computer / Residential Gateway are in the Den and the TV / Home Theater / Apple TV are in the family room. The two rooms are about 100 feet separately and are separated by five walls.

Set Up: Easy as pie. It took five minutes to plug in the HDMI cable, the optical cable, the power outlet , then adding it to the wireless network. Sharing iTunes from my desktop to Apple TV took another 20 minutes, since I had to download the new variant of iTunes and restart my computer and Apple TV. Apple really makes it simple I did not have to make any modifications to my firewall settings to share iTunes on the desktop with Apple TV. I also downloaded the Apple Remote on my iPhone and iPad, which took another five minutes.

User Interface: Apple’s secret sauce is the simplicity of their merchandise. Apple TV is no different. The menu is simple Movies, TV, Internet, Computer and Settings. Movies and TV are for renting content directly from iTunes inside Apple TV. Internet gives you access to Netflix, You Tube, etc. Computer gives you access to iTunes on your computer. Settings lets you to change the different Apple TV alternatives. The remote control is Apple’s common model of minimalist efficiency, with a menu button, a play / pause button and an iPod like controller. The supplied remote works well with Apple TV, but is a bit cumbersome when one has to enter data (e.G., e mail addresses, search on YouTube or Netflix). A much better solution is downloading Apple Remote on your iPhone or iPad. It just turns the iPhone or iPad into a big touch pad that lets you to use gestures to control the Apple TV (e.G., swipe left, swipe right, double click, etc.). Moreover, it automatically gives a keyboard when one is asked for text input (e.G., for search). Apple remote is free on the App Store.

Netflix Streaming / Video Quality: Setting up Netflix was fast just just enter your e mail address / password and you are prepared to go. I watched many TV from BBC, a foreign flick and Iron Man. Each program loaded quickly less than 30 seconds. Picture quality was good to great, based on the source material. Picture quality was comparable to DVD for SD material(perhaps somewhat better), but somewhat less sharp than upconverted DVD or blue ray. HD Programming looked like the HD on demand programming through uVerse. There was enough of a buffer that there was no jittering, pixelation or stuttering on the streaming to the TV. Sound quality on the stream was good I do not think they stream in 5.1, so the video stream does not leverage the subwoofer. Considering that I am running a heavily taxed wireless system on 802.11g with a 100 foot distance between Apple TV and the Gateway, the picture quality and streaming performance are remarkable. Having this quality of Netflix compatibility is worth the price of admission by itself.

ITunes Streaming: I streamed many music from my Playlists from the Computer. Sound quality is good, but not great. My Yamaha CD Player sounds better, but it can only hold five cds. Having access to my complete library is useful, so you lose sound quality but get convenience. ITunes streams not only the music, but also the cover art. After some minutes, Apple TV switches into screensaver mode and starts transmitting pictures to the TV with the music. I also streamed many videos from my computer and the streaming was again flawless. One of the issues with Apple TV is that it only supports the Apple video standards, i.E., MP4. I had many DIVX files that I transformed over to MP4 by using DVD Fab and imported them into iTunes. If you have a library of AVI, Divx, Xvid, etc., this will require conversion of those files to stream from your computer.

ITunes from inside Apple TV: there’s access to an iTunes store inside Apple TV also. They have a different pricing structure, in that TV shows and movies are available for rent only. They have a restricted number of titles now mainly BBC, ABC (since Steve Jobs sits on their Board) and Fox. CBS and NBC aren’t on Apple TV. Movie selection is decent they have all the new movies. The Apple TV selection may be easily increased by just downloading the content you want from iTunes on your desktop , then streaming it to Apple TV.

YouTube Streaming: amazingly good. The HQ / HD You Tube pieces look remarkably crisp on the TV. The older content that was meant to watch on a small window on your computer looked a little pixelated, but satisfactory.

Apple has built a great platform with many of possible. With what is available now Apple TV is a pretty remarkable value at $99. It’s worth it just for the Netflix streaming and integration with iTunes. Since Apple TV is really built on the same hardware (at least the processing chip) as the iPhone and iPad and has the same operating system, I would not be surprised if there are “apps” that will sooner or later make it to Apple TV to more improve Apple TV (e.G., ABC Streaming, Games, on Demand, etc.). There’s supposed to be an upgrade to the operating system with a new variant of Airplay that comes out in November, 2010. This will let you to stream from an iPad or iPod to the Apple TV also.

I looked at other streaming devices (e.G., Roku, using my Panasonic Blue Ray for Netflix, etc.) and none of them had the simplicity and reliabilty that the Apple TV offers. The Wi Fi “stick” for my Blue Ray player is $80 anyway and the Netflix integration is not anywhere almost as robust as Apple TV. UVerse also has music and picture streaming fitted using Microsoft Media Center but, it obliged many network configuration and it crashes quite frequently. I did not buy a Roku, but a friend of mine has had some issues with streaming performance. At under $100, the Apple TV is competitively priced with other streaming alternatives. Now just bring on the “apps”.

Update on 4/1/11:

I’ve had the Apple TV for some months now and I still really like it. Apple has presented Airplay, which is worth mentioning as it has possible to be a gamechanger technology. Moreover, there was important activity on the “jailbreaking” front for the Apple TV.

Airplay is Apple’s system of transmitting video / audio wirelessly between matched devices. Apple TV, the iPhone and iPad are all Airplay matched. This has proven to be especially useful feature as I can stream videos from my iPad to the Apple TV and have them appear on my TV. As an example, I may have a digital copy of a movie on my iPad (perhaps bought through iTunes or came with a DVD purchase). Through Airplay, I can transmit the movie directly from my iPad to the Apple TV and watch the movie on my TV. Likewise, if a friend has an iPhone and we want to listen to their new music selection, we can stream their music from their iPhone straight to my stereo system through Airplay. The real gamechanger for Airplay is streaming video from websites onto my Apple TV so I can watch them on my TV. As an example, I may be on the TED web site and they have a video from a TED conference. I can stream the video straight to my Apple TV and watch the video on my TV’s 60 inch screen instead of the iPad’s ten inch screen. Some number of websites have already incorporated Airplay compatibility into their videos, like CNN and TED. I think Airplay is going to have an interesting adoption cycle conventional media businesses (e.G., TV Networks) most likely will not support Airplay since it goes against their business model. Other websites that rely on video for traffic (e.G., adult sites, news sites, blogs, etc.) will most likely adopt Airplay to get more traction with buyers.

According to Wikipedia, jailbreaking mentions “a procedure that lets devices running Apple’s iOS operating system to get full access to unlock all features of the said operating system, thus removing restrictions forced by Apple”. Once jailbroken, iOS users are able to load and run applications that aren’t available on the App Store. Jailbreaking a device isn’t illegal, much to Apple’s chagrin; but, it may void one’s warranty. I am not going into how to jailbreak and Apple TV just google “jailbreak Apple TV” for.

PROS
Low Power (less than six watts)
Compact
Good looking UI
Netflix support (unlike last generation AppleTV)
Remote App for iPad/iPhone/iPod touch
Airplay (though just we just have Airtunes functionality till iOS 4.2 comes out for iPad/iPhone/iPod touch).
Closed Captions (Content dependent)

CONS
Lots of “Loading.” screens
No Local Storage! (must stream over Internet or via iTunes on PC/Mac using Home Sharing. I know you tryed to cut costs Apple, but why not at least let local USB storage? I know, I know: DRM.)
IR Sensor inferior to last generation AppleTV (requires more direct line of sight)
Lag before videos and podcasts start playing (even when located on a local computer)
Netflix controls aren’t as good as Roku. Rare keyframes makes it hard to rewind to an exact spot. Roku does much better (and PS3 Netflix controls are better).
Podcast controls on occasion get perplexed (screen indicates reversing at maximum speed, but video is really reversing at 1x)
Doesn’t precache artwork icons (Scrolling down through a list of podcasts or Netflix movies, it loads the screen with empty icons then gradually downloads them. This happens no matter how long you wait before scrolling down. On occasion, it never gets around to downloading certain icons. Hey Apple, how about showing the name of the movie while you’re retrieving the artwork so we can start using the interface if all of the artwork is not there?) Update: there can be many precaching going on, but just not in a intelligent manner. I have about 170 movies in my Netflix instant queue and a 1.5 Mbps DSL connection so that may give to the slowness showing artwork. If you have a fast internet connection, you’ll most likely have minimal delay.
No Pandora
No App support (Yet? Come on Apple, enable App support. It will not take long before we have lots of useful third party apps. I am sure Pandora could be one of the 1st , then NPR and local weather forecast.)
No 1080p 720P only (Yes, majority of people do not have the bandwidth to support 1080p streaming over the internet, but someday we’ll. As well, it could be nice to be able to show your 1080p video you shot with your new camcorder or high end DSLR.)
Rotten Tomatoes movie reviews aren’t available for Netflix movies.
Remote app could display the real menus for faster selections.
Home Sharing must be activated for a particular single account. (Result: If both you and your spouse have an iTunes account you’ll have to decide one or the other and will only can access media in that person’s iTunes account.)

UPDATE:
Removed from Cons:
” Can’t add internet radio stations to a favorites list (and there are hundreds if not thousands to scroll through).” Someone commented that you may add a radio station to your favorites by holding the center button down. I tried this and it works. Not sure how you are supposed to know this as it is not mentioned in the brief instruction book.

we’re a heavy intenet using famiily. If we are not streaming Netflix or Roku, we have phones and computers all competing for bandwidth. I tried the new Linksys e4200, it was OK till too many people logged on wirelessly and started hogging bandwidth. The e4200 could really drop down in speed while it tried to deal with all of the wireless activity. I tried the WNDR3700 (v.98 firmware) The WNDR3700 has a fast processor and can handle many of wired and wireless users at the same time. But, the WNDR3700 seemed to “hang” about once an hour for reasons not recognized. When I say “hang”, it may take five seconds to load a web page instead of the typically instant load speed. It got a little annoying.

So, I picked up the ASUS RT N56U router after reading all the reviews and tests on smallnetbuilder dot com. I have to say that this router is ridiculously fast (at least twice as fast as the WNDR3700) and has better reception during my complete house. In a place that I used to max out at about 7MB/s with the WNDR3700. I can now sustain 31MB/s in the same place. I have pretty much five bars of wireless reception where I used to have two or three bars.

The ASUS RT N56U is pretty easy to set up and I like the physical look too. Throw in the fact that it’s smokin’ fast and has great coverage and I think I got a heck of a deal for $127.

Highly suggested.

By the way, I just noticed that another reviewer haved problems with iPhones not connecting. Our iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPad, and Android phones are logging on good, no issues.

UPDATE 3/28/11 So far, the RT N56U is performing perfectly and all DD WRT bridges are connecting at highest rate. I’m running firmware 1.0.1.2
I tried to update to the beta 7.0.1.21 also as the 1.0.1.3 firmware and all of a sudden many laptops had laggy connections. Instead of instant webpage loads, it could take literally five seconds to load??? I reverted back to 1.0.1.2 and all devices are running large open again.

+++ UPDATE 4/30/11 Still running perfectly since new with no reboots. Simply awesome.

I have been in the market for an 802.11n router, and after having done many broad research (as of April 1, 2011), I decided to go with Asus RT N56U.

I can attest to the Asus RT N56U being an excellent consumer grade router though it clearly falls short when it comes to more advanced enterprise level features (where Cisco shines), which 99.9 of all users will never need or know about. One of the excellent features of the Asus RT N56U router (not frequently mentioned) is the fact that you may switch it to the AP (Access Point) mode. When Asus RT N56U is switched to the AP mode, its WAN port becomes a switch port just like the other four LAN ports. You may be able to use the WAN port to connect Asus RT N56U to an external router, and not lose one LAN port for this. So, when switching the Asus RT N56U router to the AP mode, you keep all four LAN ports for the wired connectivity to other non Wi Fi devices at one Gbps each.

Asus RT N56U supports real time 2.4 GHz and five GHz radios and the joint throughput via the back plane close to Mbps (per the review by smallnetbuilder.Com). In my personal test comparing Asus RT N56U (in the AP mode) with the Cisco 1131 a/g Access Point, Asus gives almost the same range in the five GHz band that the Cisco 1131 gives in the 2.4 GHz band. Asus RT N56U 2.4GHz band range extends beyond the Cisco 1131′s range in the 2.4 GHz band. The Asus RT N56U 5GHz band range extends far beyond the Cisco 1131′s 5GHz band range.

As for the connection download speed, I was able to get nearly twice the download speed when connecting wirelessly via the Asus RT N56U (in the AP mode) vs connecting wirelessly via the Cisco 1131a/g AP. The numbers were as follows: 11.8 Mbps via Cisco 1131 vs 19.6 Mbps via Asus RT N56U. In both tests, I used the same Internet router (Cisco 871) and the same Time Warner internet connection. I never knew that my Time Warner internet connection supported 20 Mbps till I tried using Asus RT N56U. Now I know that my Cisco 1131 and not my Internet connection was the bottleneck to the Internet.

Asus RT N56U may also be used as a NAS by using one or two of its USB ports to connect an external USB drive. I tried USB flash sticks on both ports, and was able to move files to and from those USB drives. Also, you may be able to create local users on the Asus RT N56U and supply different levels of access (r/w, r, none) to different shares for different users. This is usually called user based access, but Asus calls this “user with account” access. Otherwise, you may be able to enable access to the complete drive for everyone if you don’t want to deal with user based access permissions; Asus calls this “user without account” access. I’m sure most home users will decide the latter access technique to avoid complexnesses that come with having to provision local users on the Asus RT N56U router. I confirmed both techniques of access to work when a share is mounted in Mac OS X also as in Apple iOS (iPad2). I have run into a problem accessing a 32GB flash drive that had about 16GB of space taken by different files and directories via the the “user with account” access technique from both Mac OS X and iOS, but had no such problem accessing a 1GB flash drive with nearly all space taken by different files and directories; neither did I have any problem using the “user with account” access technique when I tried a blank 16GB drive after moving some files to it , then creating some directories(see below on creating directories in the root of a USB drive). I believe that if I were to reformat the 32GB flash drive , then move all of the current files it has on it back to it, the “user with account” access technique could start working properly on it. As for the file system on the USB drive, so far I have only tried FAT32, which works good, but imposes a limitation on the size of each file to be a maximum of 4GB. If you have to go above this limitation, you’ll have to go with NTFS, HFS (for Mac), or ext3. I know for a fact that the Asus RT N56U is matched with ext3, but I’m not sure if it can work with NTFS or HFS. If you have found one of these three file systems to be matched with the Asus RT N56U, add a comment to this review. But, if they’re, the only file system that’s matched with Windows, Mac, and Linux is FAT32. If you’re planning on running the Asus RT N56U in a mixed environment and are planning to be able to read from and write to your USB drive directly from your computers also as across the network, your common denominator file system for the USB drive should be FAT32. If you’re only planning on working with your files over the network, any file system that the Asus RT N56U is matched with could work for you as long as you may be able to format your USB drive in that file system. As of this writing, the Asus RT N56U can not format a USB drive attached to it, so you could have to do the formatting on one of your computers or use the default file system that your USB flash drive is formatted in, which is most probably FAT32.

It appears that though you may be able to manually mount USB devices connected to the Asus RT N56U in Mac OS X (via Cmd+K in Finder), you can not mount those drives by double clicking the RT N56U entry that pops up in Finder under Shared. I used the app called “Files Connect” on my iPad2 to enable Finder like (or Windows Explorer like) file browsing capability. I was able to mount the USB drives by tapping on the Asus RT N56U entry that Files Connect auto discovers. I’m not sure if Windows Network Neighborhood can auto mount the USB drives connected to Asus RT N56U because the manual says that you may want to enter the network path manually. If this is in fact the only way to mount an Asus RT N56U share in Windows, you may be able to generally map a drive to the network path for the Asus RT N56U in Windows.

Please note that you can not create or delete any directory in the root directory of a USB drive connected to a USB port on the Asus RT N56U while accessing the USB drive over the network. This is because the Asus RT N56U considers the directories in the root of a USB drive to be network shares, and hence, it disallows the addition and elimination of a share via the network. You’ll have to input the USB drive directly in to a USB port on your computer (Mac, PC, or Linux) to create a directory in the root of the USB drive. Once you have done you may be able to input the USB drive back in to the Asus RT N56U’s port and assign the access permissions to this directory/share. You may be able to, but, create and delete sub directories of an present share while the USB drive is plugged in to a port of the Asus RT N56U, and the share is mounted via the network in Windows, Mac, or Linux. All sub directories of an present share inherit the access permissions particular on the share via the Asus RT N56U’s web GUI. The fact that you can not identify a more granular access permissions to the sub directories of a share is certainly a limitation for the enterprise, but should be no problem for a home or a small business user.

When you put a blank USB flash drive in one of Asus RT N56U’s two USB ports, the Asus RT N56U automatically creates a share (named “share”) in the root of the drive and creates three sub directories in that share (music, pictures, video). This is done to prepare the flash drive for the UPnP server that may be enabled in this router. I tested the UPnP server, using Xbox 360 as the streaming client, and can confirm that the UPnP server works just good in the Asus RT N56U router. If, on the other hand, you put a non blank USB flash drive in to a port on Asus RT N56U, no extra shares are produced, and the access to all directories/shares in the root of the USB drive is made available as read/write. You may be able to, but, change the access permissions on a share to share base and assign different kinds of access (r/w, r, or none) for different local users particular in the Asus RT N56U.

Asus RT N56U may be a print server, but this feature is of no use to me because for this feature to work, a Windows established program supplied by Asus is needed. Because I use usually Macs and Apple iOS devices, I can not use the print server feature of this router.

Last but not least, Asus RT N56U can use one of its two USB ports to connect to a 3G or 3.5G cellular USB modem and share that connection among the Wi Fi (and most likely wired) LAN clients. I haven’t tested this feature, so I can not comment on its usability and stability.

Overall, I do not think you may be able to find a better consumer grade 802.11n Gigabit Ethernet router as of this writing. Judging by the frequency of firmware releases for the Asus RT N56U router, the bugs left over in the firmware will soon be worked out, and hopefully, Asus will add extra features to this router, like direct IP based (or Bonjour based) print server so that Mac users can use the print server feature of this router. As well, it appears that the “dd wrt” team is working on porting their firmware on this router, so at some point, you may have an option of replacing the stock firmware with “dd wrt”.

This review is from: ASUS Black Diamond Dual Band Wireless N 600 Router (RT N56U) (Personal Computers)

I newly bought two other routers before buying this one to replace an older 2.4ghz router. The 1st router I bought was the newly released Cisco Linksys E4200. I ended up returning it because I barely had a signal downstairs and slow output. My last router typically had around 70 80 signal downstairs but the E4200 could quickly lose signal the farther I moved away from the router. I bought as a substitute the greatly rated Netgear WNDR3700. This router had much better signal but it could not work with my external hard drive. Per review of online comments and Netgear’s own web site, the 3700 has issues being matched with many external hard drives. Netgear posted on their web site about a dozen matched hard drives that work with the 3700. I had the choice to either keep the 3700 and fork out another $50 $100 on a new external hard drive that could work or buy another router with alike features. I ran across the Asus at my local electronic store. I never heard of this model before since it’s a new release. Before I decided to buy it, I went home and read the restricted reviews I could find on it. Both expert and buyer reviews were positive. I ended up buying the Asus. I was totally blown away by the features and performance of this router. I have over 90 signal downstairs. My laptop is maintaining 230 270mbps connection when I’m downstairs (about 30 feet away from router which is upstairs) which was impossible with both the E4200 and 3700. The user interface gives important total more custom alternatives than both the Netgear and Cisco. My external HDD (Seagate) was instantly recognized by the router. I also found the wired connection runs smoother and faster than the 3700. The 3700 had a delay at times loading pages. In general this is I believe the best performing router that I have ever owned. Now the WNDR3700 is regarded as the best but it was out for a while now. The Cisco E4200 claims to be the best but I disagree with this caused by real hands on experience with it. There’s a good total of owner complaints already being posted about the E4200 which is alike to issues that I also encountered. The only bad thing I found with this unit is that it doesn’t let wall mount choice. For the price, performance and features, this is an excellent value and steal.
