The UA787EJ Quick Response monitor blends digital blood pressure technology and advanced features with simple functionality. This monitor offers memory, time and date feature and more with the simple push of a button. The EA787EJ stores the last 60 readings in memory and also displays average readings. In addition, the Quick Response offers a time and date function, which indicates when a measurement was taken. Users can also program three alarms per day to remind them when to take a reading. Included with this monitor is the EasyFit¿ Cuff, an innovative cuff that instantly fits your arm. It has been specifically designed to fit most arms (917″) and provides the highest level of comfort and accurate readings. The UA787EJ also offers two innovative features, the Pressure Rating Indicator¿ and Irregular Heartbeat feature. The Pressure Rating Indicator provides a snapshot of your blood pressure classification based on your measurements and eliminates the guesswork on what your blood pressure measurements mean. Also included is an irregular Heartbeat Feature that alerts the user and provides an accurate measurement even when an Irregular Heartbeat occurs. It has been clinically validated for accuracy (+/ 3mmHg and Pulse +/ 5), so you can be confident that your readings are consistently correct. The measurement range is 20 mmHg to 280 mmHg and Pulse: 40 to 200 pulses/minute. I calibrated the UA787EJ against the manual setup (stethiscope, gauge and cuff) that I purchased last week and the readings are consistant. I read the first review that stated their disatisfaction b/c the readings were “high”. I would recommend calibrating the unit yourself and if it is off, return it for another or a refund.
For the last week I’ve tested several monitors in the local stores (Omron, ReliOn, LifeSource) and I felt that all of them reported low BP readings. I even ordered one that was very eratic in its readings but was always 10 to 12 points lower than the readings taken w/a stethiscope (sometimes I used the BP machine at WalMart, which seemed to be consistent). I returned it for a refund.
I work at a hospital, and a coworker used the new UA787EJ this morning, found that his blood pressure was very high, went down to ER and indeed it was extremely high. If you have doubts about the accuracy, I suggest purchasing the manual steth., gauge and cuff to do your own calibartion. It was the only way I could be confident the automatic unit was accurate and reliable. The manual setup only costs about $16.00 from WalMart (maybe less from Amazon) and taking your BP is easy.

January 15, 2006 This review is from: LifeSource UA787EJ Quick Response Auto Inflate Blood Pressure Monitor with EasyFit Cuff, Pressure Rating Indicator and AC Adapter (Health and Beauty) After doing extensive research on the web, I purchased this item to replace a current blood pressure monitor. While the Easy Fit cuff was easy to place, the B/P readings obtained for my wife and myself were much higher than those obtained on our previous B/P cuff as well as higher than blood pressures taken at the doctor’s office. Since we had no confidence in the accuracy of the readings, I returned the B/P cuff to Amazon for a refund.
