Holmes makes an excellent compact and movable ceramic space heater that really gives off many of heat than my older one does! Moreover, the unit is lightweight and easy to carry though of course I would not carry it while it is working or just after it is been shut off.

The heater is reasonably priced as of the time I’m writing this and I sure hope that Holmes continues to make these, I could like to get one for my father. The unit is totally quiet in fact it is so calm that you will never know that it is there unless you see it. It quickly gives a good total of heat to regions like bedrooms and offices.

This heater by Holmes is best used for spaces that are about 100 square feet or somewhat more, I would not rely on it to heat some number of rooms or a mix living room/dining room all now. For that you will either need more than one of these space heaters or you will have to use this unit with your central heat or oil heat, whatever you have.

I also like that the unit turns itself off automatically of it should accidentally tip over. That is good protection against fire or ugly marks on your carpeting that may be tough to take off.

If you look at the 4th picture of the unit at the top of this page, you may be able to see for yourself the way you may be able to control the temperature. You get “on” and “off” buttons, and there are five particular temperatures from which to decide. You may be able to change the temperature a bit more simply by pushing the “hi” and “lo” buttons. Great!

Again, this is one awesome space heater that is more than worth the current price. I greatly recommend it.

Great heater, lousy thermostat,

I have had this heater as the only heat source in my 10X15 ft. Office through two Florida winters. It puts out lots of heat on “low,” and is so calm that I do not know if it is on or off without looking. The only problem, sadly a big one, is that the thermostat only sets in five degree increments and lets too much heat variation before it turns on, so I am generally a little too hot or too cold. I am thinking of replacing it with one of the competing Lasko ceramic heaters. A friend has one, and it looks to be just as calm and economical as the Holmes, but does a better job of maintaining a stable temperature. I waited and waited for Holmes to come out with a ceramic heater just like this one but with a better thermostat, but I guess this is not going to happen. Oh, well.

I just ordered two more of these units. We have been using them for the last five years or so and love them! We need more because we keep giving them away to our kids, who ask for them exactly. They run quieter and put out more heat double ceramic heater than any other fan driven area heater we have ever used. We also love the thermostat features and tip over shut off. I do not think Holmes is making this model any more and it is a shame. I thought I better get some more while I can.

This is a great heater! We use it to heat the living area of our RV. The living area is roughly 26′ x 10′ with normal height ceilings. We have tried some different compact room heaters, but they were too small to heat the area and also way too noisy. We have had the heater about four months now. Since we’re staying in cooler climates, we have used it nearly every night overnight.

The best features about this heater are:

It is QUIET!!!

Really!! We tried many heaters in our RV and house over the years and they tend to be so noisy. The model we tried before buying the Lasko was so noisy we had to crank the tv volume up to hear over it. This Lasko looks to be about as calm as a fan may be.

It has an auto thermostat you may be able to set.

This model has a high/low and auto setting. The high/low settings aren’t thermostat controlled. You simply decide hotter or less hot air. : The auto setting lets you to set the thermostat to the temperature you want. It looks reasonably “accurate”. That’s, the temperature it displays is inside 3 4 degrees of the other thermometers I have around the room. Once you set the thermostat, the heater cycles on/off, just like you could expect. This is a good way to keep the room at your target temperature. We use this mode every night.

It oscillates.

This sounds like a silly feature to list, but it makes a big difference in heating up a room. The last heaters we have had didn’t oscillate. So, the area directly in front of the heater has been warmed, but the rest of the room wasn’t. The oscillation really helps get the heat moved around the room so that you aren’t creating hot and cold spots. We generally turn on the oscillation to heat the room. I’m sold on that feature and could not purchase another heater at some point unless it oscillated.

It has a remote control.

The only thing that could make it better is if you could see the settings on the remote instead of having to look at the top of the heater. But, if they did that, the cost could go up. I am happy with this remote given the price of the unit.

There are a couple of negatives about this heater:

To me, it’s annoying that it beeps for each setting you change. This can be a problem if you’re planning to use it in your bedroom and change settings while someone is asleep. The beeping is really obvious when you want to change the thermostat. When you unplug the heater, it resets itself to 75 degrees. If you then want to set it to 60 degrees, you’re going to hear 15 deafening beeps. Turn it on beep. Decide oscillate beep. Change to auto setting beep. Choose to up the temperature by three degrees throughout the night beep, beep, beep. And your partner is awake! You get the idea. : I assume Lasko intended the beep so that you could know you changed something while clicking the remote control. But, it is so deafening they should either make it softer or give you an choice to turn it off.

There’s no “fan only” setting.

It looks like most heaters I have bought in the past have a fan only setting. I am not sure why this one doesn’t. Since you have the big unit sitting there in your room, it could be nice if it may be used to circulate air throughout the day when it is warmer, , then heat at night once the temps dropped. Since we’re using this heater in our RV, it is more obvious to me since we have to have space for the both the heater and a fan. Oh well.

Overall, we love this heater and could purchase it again.

I rate it at 4.5 stars.

PS we bought it at a local store, not via Amazon, so I can not comment on shipping.

this heater is a life saver! my room mate and i are too cheap to have the heater on all the time. When we’re home we have it on at a tolerable 65 degrees and turn it off when we leave the apartment. The heater is a good way to save on the bills and is eco friendly. It heats up my room well and pretty fast.

I decided to get lasko just because my boss has one in his office and i do like it. I also saw it at wal mart and for only 45 dollars w00t and it is up for 75 bucks on the lasko web site double w00t so it was a good deal!

The bad:

The digital display is over the heater. It is inconvenient when i want to see the digital display screen from my bed

No fan only option

The good!:

Quiet enough for me to fall asleep to and I am a light sleeper!

Comes with a cute little remote controller with the same buttons as the heater and is convenient if you do not want to get out of bed

The heater beeps when you use the remote on it to demonstrate that it gets the command

Very cool feature: the auto choice is great! let us say i have it set to 75 degrees. The heater will heat up to 77 degrees and temporarily shut off till the room cools down to 74 degrees. Then the heater starts up again and the cycle keeps continuing till you or the timer shuts it off. I typically have the on when I am sleeping and dont have worries about being too hot.

A timer that goes up to eight hours

High, low, or auto setting

Can turn from side to side only on the high and auto setting

Compact

Has a handle in the back for easy carrying

I’ve had this heater only for a month, but i can tell it is going to last for a long while! because of it, I am going to trust lasko!! i greatly recommend this heater. As you may be able to see, the good outweighs the bad!

Rating: Good Little Heater
Rec’d product quickly and in good condition. It is the perfect size for my bedroom, with a thin profile and hi tech look. Tested the heater on a cold night and it warmed up my room in no time. The fan was calm and the oscillating tower was good at spreading the heat around. In general, a good little heater for the price!

Rating: Works well the 1st two years.
This heater is wonderful, it produces hot air and heats a small room pretty quickly. I bought it for under $30 at Wally World two years ago. The second year of use, this unit worked but the thermostat malfunctioned. I had to tap the unit to get it to come back on otherwise wait till the room was uncomfortably cold before it could turn back on by itself. If I turned it up, it could come back on sooner but the room could be too hot. Its like old thermostats with the mercury you tap to get things moving. I wont buy another Lasko unit ever again.

Maybe I got a faulty one but I would not risk it. Go with one with a digital thermostat for more exact heating.
