    Experience was as follows:

    1 Plugged unit into TIVO USB port.

    2 Went to TIVO network setup menu.

    3 Network now recognized.

    4 Clicked on network name.

    5 Entered WEP password using alpha numeric alternative.

    6 Network link established.

    7 Used on screen signal strength to reposition Adapter and router antenna.

    8 Connected to Tivo service.

    Good product. Suggested.

    First, thank you to the last reviewers: I had some number of questions about this product like “does it support Wireless Encryption?” and the last reviews really helped.By the way yes, it supports WEP.

    What you’ll need if you want to use this:

    1 Wireless Internet Access Wireless Router and Connection to Internet inside range of your DVR

    2 Series two DVR with USB plug

    3 A computer for many of the advanced features

    Once you have these two things then using this product is surprisingly easy to set up for about 80 of “Lucky People.”

    1 Plug it In

    2 Follow the Instructions

    3 Enter your WEP key alphanumeric or hexadecimal alphanumeric is much easier

    4 I had to restart my DVR

    5 If you are connecting a computer and using TivoToGo, you must install the software on your computer.Which also must be connected to the network for your TIVO to see it and for your computer to see your TIVO and you will need your Media Access Key.

    Benefits I received from this product:

    1 I do not have to use a phone line to get updates no dialing

    2 TIVO updates come much faster over Broadband Faster updates

    3 I bought TIVO to Go Plus extra $$ from TIVO for the license key that you use with the computer software and I can listen to my iPod music through my Bose in my living room

    4 I have my picture library shared..baby pictures are nice on the TV..but caution, the quality of the pictures will only be as good as your TV..ie HDTV is still not as good as a good laptop screen and if you do not have HDTV, they will only look as good as your TVs best resolution. Its still cool to show baby pictures on the big TV.

    5 I have a big Attached Hard Drive array on my computer.Its really a Server.So I offload movies I plan to keep and they are generally there when I want to watch them so the 180hour DVR size bound kindof does not apply.

    Issues / Challenges:

    1 you must know a bit about computers if you want to get many of the more complex benefits like share pictures, music, download movies…Ie you must know about firewalls, how to install software, IP addresses and things like that.

    2 If you have wireless access already set up and just want to use it to connect to the internet and get program updates instead of using your phone line, its pretty easy but you will have to a have DHCP turned on or b assign it a static IP..for those of you who think I just typed in Greek, chances are you have DHCP but if you happen not to, you could bump into problems.

    3 If you want to listen to your IPod, share pictures, download to your computer, be sure to read the software/hardware prerequisites for your computer.

    Overall, they are my thoughts on the average person installing this easily:

    A 80 of the people who purchase this should have Zero problems installing this product because you have a regular network configuration, know your way around networks, or are just lucky.

    B 20 of the people who purchase this who do not have a regular Wireless network configuration AND do not have many knowledge of networking..you could become irritated at trying to connect this product particularly if you want to use many of the advanced functionality.

    My Luck:

    1 Start to finish it took me five minutes to install this to get its updates through the wireless network.

    2 It took me about 30 minutes to install the other software and get everything configured to share music, pictures and enable TivoToGo on my computer.

    This Tivo Wireless Adapter is way better than the D Link usb wireless adapter I used on my Tivo. The performance increase transfer speed from Tivo to PC using Tivo Desktop software was about 25 40. Signal reception also improved as displayed on the Tivo itself to “Good 70″ instead of “Fair 50″.

    I greatly recommend this adapter if you’re interested in taking benefit of many of Tivo’s more advanced functionlity like transfering programs to your PC to burn to DVD or move to other Tivos in your house.

    Wow, this wireless adapter couldn’t be any easier to set up! Using on my Samsung BDP 1600 Blu Ray, I just plugged it in, went to the DVD menu, setup, selected my wireless network which brought up a keyboard to enter my network password. Instantly and automatically, it connected to the network and gives you a code, which you enter on Netflix just follow the on screen TV instructions. INSTANT MOVIES! good quality. You may be able to get HD quality movies with a type “N” router, but I only have a type “G”, but still, the quality is great! If you unplug the adapter and replug it in, it automatically reconnects to your router and Netflix so you do not have to go through setup again.

    I greatly recommend it for streaming your Netflix movies to your TV my TV is a Samsung LN52A630

    I have the Samsung LN52A 650 LCD TV and the BD P1600 Blu Ray player. I have wireless internet access in my house. Firstly, I had a real problem to get the BR player to connect to the internet. It could find my SSID but could not connect. When I set the configuration to manual and input all the requested info, it failed the Ping test. After hours of troubleshooting, I found a part of info on the web, telling me that the SSID can not have characters or spaces in the ID. I had spaces in the SSID name, so once I fixed that, it connected without a problem. I did not have to purchase a new wireless router. That seemed to be the leading fix for this problem for others on the web. But, I did not want to go through the annoyance of re configuring a new wireless router nor did I wanted to use up the money on one. , I did not have to.

    I bought this modem the other day because I felt my old SB5101 modem wasn’t optimized for speed. I have a regular DOCSIS 2.0 service through Comcast. The modem made a big impression on me after it has been installed. The download and upload increased around 20 . The amazing thing is that this modem squeeze extra bandwidth out of your present service weather you have a standard basic megabyte connection or the newer DOCSIS 3.0 service quick connection. The obvious difference was the latency speed of the connection. When I click on a link on a web page, the page loads up once the link is clicked. My old SB5101 modem could take some extra milliseconds to load. What does this mean? If you play video games like Halo three via X box or Call of responsibility, you’ll have a reaction time advantage against your competition. The clear negative of this product is that it takes longer to boot up. If you power cycle the modem or if your internet service provider resets the modem, it’ll take two minutes to restart. It’ll take Comcast longer to recognize the modem when you call in to give the Mac address because when they reset the modem remotely, it’ll take two minutes for the modem to format. Once it’s online it performs flawlessly. Anybody that buys this modem will gain from the extra tweaks it has despite if the are using a basic or super quick internet service.

    The new modem works great with my Comcast service here in Olympia, WA. Took five min on the phone for the Comcast Tech to authenticate the new router.

    just made a fast call to comcast to give them the modem’s MAC address and now my internet is blazing. I am on the comcast 22Mb download tier but speed test is showing an average of 35Mb down / 6Mb up. Really fast.
